Personal learning plans, or PLPs, are a series of goals to guide students' learning throughout high school. One of the biggest issues that faces teachers is how to prepare students for a constantly changing future WHILE meeting the needs of every student. Monmouth, along with the State of Maine, has committed to proficiency-based education. This means students cannot graduate until they have demonstrated "proficiency" or met specific standards.

In order to ensure every student reaches proficiency to graduate and be prepared for life after high school, teachers need to customized learning and make it relevant for every student. To ensure that this occurs, all students will generate personal learning plans (PLPs) to guide their education. Teachers will then be able to use these PLPs to ensure they are meeting the needs of every student.
